Accounts Receivable Specialist – Medical

Fremont, CA

$25 – $27/hour

NEW Accounts Receivable Specialist opportunity with one of our TOP healthcare clients located in Fremont, CA. As the AR Specialist you will be responsible for securing revenue by verifying posting receipt information and resolving denial discrepancies and refunds to insurances. The ideal candidate should be reliable, have a strong understanding of insurance processes, and have excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Review accounts for collection process to validate patient responsibility
  • After the clinic manager has approved the accounts for further collection process, assign the accounts to the agency
  • Reconcile accounts with agency acknowledgments on a weekly basis to confirm the account/dollar amount matches to what the agency has received
  • Work with the agency and patients on disputes filed by patients
  • Report payments received on collection assignment for the agency to update their records
  • Follow up with the insurance company on unpaid claims and denials
  • Resolves eligibility denials
  • Check eligibility and update insurance to route the claims to the correct payer if the initial claim was sent to the incorrect payer
  • Resolves coding denials by informing the clinic on denials to retrieve the correct codes and send corrected claims
  • Refund processing
  • Follow up on appeals sent for payment

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years experience working with Medi-Cal, Medicare, and HMO insurance procedures, refunds
  • Understanding of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-9, Medi-Cal crosswalk coding, and managed care payment methodologies
  • Experience with EPIC is highly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication
