POSITION SUMMARY:

The individual in the Purchasing Supervisor position is responsible for managing the day to day purchasing/planning function of the Purchasing Dept. Ensures the directive of the Purchasing Manager is completed in accordance with all company policies. Medical Device or Biotech industry experience a plus.  You will be working in a NPI and ERP environment.  You will work with the Purchasing Manager to negotiate with vendors for the purchase of all materials, supplies, equipment and services used by the company. You will be an experienced procurement professional to perform strategic procurement functions, performance analysis and assist Purchasing Manager with process improvement and new technology implementations. Excellent communication, data analysis, and technology skills required.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, detailed oriented and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; including being able to figure out assembly of simple and complex projects. Candidates must be willing to work on a team and interact with different levels within the organization.

The supervisor will be responsible for the supervision of union, non-union and temporary employees.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Perform all forecasting functions using historical data, CRM data and meeting with PMs to generate appropriate monthly and extended forecasts. (daily)
  • Assist with analysis, revision and ongoing maintenance of existing forecast method to improve efficiency, accuracy and overall performance. (daily)
  • Assist with data entry into company-wide ERP system (daily)
  • Tracking supplier performance to ensure accountability and continued improvement. (Weekly)
  • Vendor identification, risk assessment and contract negotiation/ on-going management. (weekly)
  • Assure departmental records are adequately maintained. (daily)
  • Checks requisitions for appropriate approval and account numbers. (daily)
  • Work closely with receiving department to ensure proper supplies arrived. (daily)
  • Complies with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics. (daily)
  • Assist in the monitoring of purchasing related business processes to ensure efficiency/accuracy. (daily)
  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of process improvements where appropriate. (weekly)
  • Analyze data and produce a variety of reports utilized inside purchasing group and by management in other departments. (weekly)
  • General Supervision of Purchasing department employees.

 

PROBLEM SOLVING REQUIREMENTS:

  • The incumbent is required to exercise independent judgment in day-to-day matters not governed by policy and escalate to the Purchasing Manager where applicable.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required along with four (4) years of experience in purchasing or inventory planning. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position is responsible for the daily supervision and completion of the duties of the Purchasing Department.
