Patient Account Representative

3-6 month Contract (possible extension)

Newark, CA – On-site

$33 – $35/hour

Option 1 is currently seeking a self-driven and reliable Patient Account Representative for one of the TOP 10 hospitals in the country. Candidates should have knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal, Worker’s Comp, or Managed Care (HMO, PPO, POS,) to be successful in this position. Responsibilities:

• Follow up on unpaid accounts in patient accounting systems with the payers via phone and email.
• Review accounts for possible underpayments; research contracts, guidelines, and resolve payments with payers.
• Perform appeals with the payer.
• Reviews and resolves electronic acknowledgment payer rejections/denials.
• Posts payment transfers from professional billing to hospital billing.
• Maintain strong working relationships with medical center staff, payers, physicians, and patients.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma
• Minimum 1-year experience in healthcare (admitting, physician’s office, healthcare payer/insurance)
• Knowledge of: Medicare, Medi-Cal, Worker’s Comp, or Managed Care (HMO, PPO, POS)
• Excellent customer service skills
• Experience with EPIC is a plus!
