Option 1 Staffing is currently recruiting for a Patient Account Representative for a hospital in Downtown Sunnyvale, CA. The starting salary will depend on experience and our client offers excellent benefits. This role is in-office and direct-hire. The schedule is full-time, Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm.

Must understand billing and insurance follow-up with all payors. Job duties include setting patients up on payment plans and taking a heavy volume of incoming patient calls. Experience working on NextGen is a plus, and working within Excel is required.


  • Performs billing and account follow-up
  • Follows up on unpaid, denied, and all payment variances for account resolution
  • Resolves credit balances that are due to patients and payers
  • Posts daily cash and adjustments for Hospital and Professional billing
  • Hospital Biller with Medicare Inpatient and Outpatient billing experience (NOT Patient Acct Rep – Professional Billing))


  • High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of four (4) years related work experience in a Hospital Setting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Understands Medicare, Medi-Cal HMO, PPO and 3rd party rules and regulations.
  • The ability to exchange information on factual matters. Interaction requires courtesy and tact when dealing with patients, hospital employees and third parties.
  • The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and provide empathy in difficult interpersonal situations is required.
  • The ability to work with diverse internal and external constituencies.
  • Excellent attention to detail, good organizational skills, ability to meet priorities within set timeframes, and ability to work as part of a team.
