Job Description

Lead the development of reporting, data warehousing, and analytics solutions for Epic, Workday, ServiceNow, and other application systems. Oversee a team of report writers, analysts, and business intelligence engineers in the development of clinical, operational, and financial data solutions for the health system.  Drive innovation in analytics for the organization through effective resource management. Implement strategies to support data governance, data visualization, security, and analytical solutions.  Lead the use of modern data science, predictive modeling, machine learning (Python).  Present decisions to leaders at all levels from clinicians to executives leading high visibility committees and projects.  Most of the Manager’s time is spent on project management, analytics strategy, process development, and team management.

Duties may include: managing design services, providing configuration assistance, performing needs assessments, analyzing current business practices, as well as identifying future business opportunities for leveraging data storage and retrieval system capabilities. Manage relationships with software and hardware vendors to understand the potential impact of different vendor strategies. Ensure the development of proper training and documentation for enterprise-wide technical architecture, systems use, maintenance, planning, and integration of next-generation technologies into the analytics strategy. Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of a team of data analysts, report developers, and business intelligence engineers.
  • Lead strategies for data architecture, ETL development, extracts, and coordinate with outside vendors.
  • Project management of key organization initiatives around data use, analytics, extracts, regulatory reporting, and warehousing.
  • Oversee the development of dashboards, reports, security, and other related tools with a focus on Epic Cogito.
  • Develop analytics capabilities for the organization around predictive modeling, data warehousing, forecasting, and data science.
  • Share their understanding of the analytics ecosystem and enhance data literacy for the organization.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 4 years related work experience or Master’s degree in related field with 2 years related work experience. Degree in information technology, business or health care preferred.

Minimum of 2 years of experience directly managing a team of report developers, business intelligence engineers, and/or data scientists with responsibility for their performance and career development.

Ability to communicate effectively with employees from all levels within the organization, including senior management.

Project management, process leadership experience, ability to lead meetings, conflict resolution, and delegation.

Knowledgeable, experienced and accountable for data warehouse, visualization tools and analytics platforms in a hospital setting.

Strong understanding of transactional, operational, and dimensional data models.

Demonstrates robust capabilities in the areas of dashboards and balanced scorecards supporting lines of business, strategic goals, and business operations.

Experience with Epic Cogito, SQL, and Tableau.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Experience with Visio, flow diagrams, Smartsheets, ServiceNow, and SharePoint is preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.

Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.

Moderate to expert levels of knowledge around IT and healthcare sector concepts and trends.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements

Certification in one or more Epic modules preferred.
