OPTION 1 STAFFING is recruiting for a  Desktop Engineer for a contract to hire position at a top healthcare facility.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Strong leadership & communication skills
  • Manages all aspects of the Horizon/View VDI platform/Follow-Me-Desktop (FMD)
  • Develops strategies, understand business/end point needs and deploying adequate solutions
  • Works in collaboration with other tech teams to develop and support technology roadmaps
  • Consistently develops and introduces efficiencies and automation to improve UX
  • Proactively monitors for potential troubles
  • Coordinates support with tech personnel of any upcoming changes
  • Provisions/Administer virtual desktop support, deployments for multiple customer sites
  • Works with internal customers throughout in support of Follow-Me-Desktop (FMD) on VDI platform 1
  • Provide escalation VDI support for a 24×7 hospital support 1
  • Customer centric, assist medical/nursing staff with a “white glove” approach
  • Develop documentation, follow technical SOPs during deployment and troubleshooting

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5-10 years of hands-on IT experience designing, implementing and managing large & complex VDI environments
  • Experience managing Enterprise Microsoft Windows environments
  • MCSA and VCP certification not required but highly desirable


  • Virtual Desktop Administration (VMware Horizon View/Follow me Desktop)
  • Experience managing Imprivata, Ivanti tools.
  • VDI User Profile Management (VMware UEM Environment manager)
  • Virtual Application Installation, Support, Testing and Troubleshooting (Appvolumes)
  • Windows Desktop Administration Skills (desired: Microsoft Windows 7 & 10)
  • Windows Troubleshooting (Active Directory, DNS, DFSR and GPOs)
  • SSO and authentication technologies (Imprivata Onesign and MFA)
  • Virtualization Infrastructure (VMware vSphere)
  • Understanding of Network infrastructure concept
  • Enterprise Cloud Management and Administration (desired: vRealize Automation)
  • Management of Enterprise Virtual Systems and Networks (desired: vRealize Operations Manager)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate to nontechnical audiences on technical issues
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate on a technical level to technical audiences
  • Ability to work flexible hours and be on-call
  • Ability to do moderate travel (6-8 times a year)

  • Virtual Network Infrastructure (VMware NSX,)
  • Database Administration Experience (desired: MSSQL)
